Manchester United issue Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic injury update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic have overcome the worst of their injuries as they near a return for Manchester United.

The duo both missed the weekend draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford and have been sent to Dubai in order to undergo a warm weather training camp to aid their recoveries.

Shaw has not featured for United since their home defeat against Crystal Palace back in August after suffering a hamstring injury, while Matic last played in the Europa League fixture away at AZ Alkmaar prior to the international break.

Neither of the duo have travelled to face FK Partizan in the Europa League fixture on Thursday night, however Solskjaer confirmed the pair should be back in Manchester this weekend as they near a return to the first-team.

"Both have injuries," the United manager told the press on Wednesday evening.

"They've gone past the injury stage and brought staff with them to go work with them so hopefully not too long, I expect them back in Manchester for the weekend and then let's see when they'll be available."

When asked why the pair had been sent to Dubai to continue with their rehabilitation Solskjaer remained coy and did not want to divulge the reason for their journey abroad.

Solskjaer added: "There are different reasons for why they go away for training."
