Manchester United issue injury update on Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof

Manchester United will monitor the fitness of both Victor Lindelof and forward Anthony Martial following the international break.

Martial trained alone for France amid reports on a back problem sustained in the win against Portugal and was an unused substitute during the win against Sweden in the UEFA Nations League.

Sweden have confirmed Lindelof is still suffering from a back injury and indicated he could not continue in the game against France.

Lindelof was substituted at half-time during United's defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir on November 4 with a back issue but managed to play the full 90 minutes against Everton at Goodison Park.

The defender travelled with his country for the latest set of international fixtures and Sweden assistant manager Peter Wettergren confirmed he was substituted against France as a result of the recurring issue.

"He was in a bit of pain after the match against Croatia, but said that he will give everything for the team," Wettergren said, quoted by Aftonbladet.

"He was able to train okay yesterday and said ‘I’ll push as long as possible’.

"He gave me a signal at half time that he would not go the whole [of second] half. Then I told him to shout when it is not possible."

United face West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday and could hand a Premier League debut to summer signing Alex Telles.

The defender missed two weeks' worth of action after testing positive for COVID-19 but tested negative while on international duty with Brazil.

Telles was an unused substitute as Edinson Cavani saw red for a challenge on Everton forward Richarlison.
