Manchester United issue FA Youth Cup ticket sales update

Manchester United have sold 28,000 tickets for the FA Youth Cup final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford next month.

Tickets for the single-legged final at Old Trafford only went on sale last Tuesday, with almost 30,000 of them snatched up by supporters so far.

United face Forest in the final on Wednesday May 11 with kick-off at 7.30pm. All tickets are priced at £1 with proceeds going to the Manchester United Foundation.

There is no exact limit on how many tickets United can sell for the youth fixture, and the second and third tiers of Old Trafford could be opened up for the fixture if the demand is there.

United are the most successful side in the history of the prestigious youth competition, with 10 triumphs to their name, while visitors Forest will be competing in their first ever final.

Travis Binnion’s side secured their place in the final by beating Wolves 3-0 in the semi-final last month. Charlie McNeill scored twice and Alejandro Garnacho once, as the U18s won their fourth match to be played at Old Trafford in the competition so far this season.

United's route to the final began with a home win over Scunthorpe United, before beating Reading away. Since then, Binnion's side have defeated Everton, Leicester City, and most recently Wolves at home.

On the other side of the draw, former United reserve manager Warren Joyce guided Forest to their first ever FA Youth Cup Final with a memorable late 3-1 victory over Chelsea at The City Ground earlier this month.

Joyce, who spent eight years at United, also led his side to wins over Bristol City, Peterborough, Cambridge and Blackburn Rovers before their historic win over Chelsea.

United's last victory in the tournament came 11 years ago when they defeated Sheffield United with a squad that featured Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison.
