Manchester United issue Eric Bailly injury update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Eric Bailly will have to undergo scans following an injury he suffered against Watford over the weekend.

The Ivorian defender was forced off just before half-time during United's 1-0 victory in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

Bailly had returned to the starting line-up having missed out on the Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City in midweek, but saw his return cut short following a collision with goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 26-year-old received treatment on the pitch before being taken down the tunnel and replaced by Harry Maguire.

Bailly's fitness will be a concern to fans ahead of their Premier League double header against Burnley and Liverpool next week, with Solskjaer still unsure of the extent of his injury.

“I think it was his neck," the manager told Match of the Day. "I don’t think it was concussion so that is a positive but we have got to do scans."

Bailly partnered Axel Tuanzebe in the heart of defence against Watford with the duo two of nine changes made to their United line-up.

Academy graduate Tuanzebe impressed again with the clean sheet and after the game he provided his own update on his partner's injury scare.

“He’s alright," the centre-back told MUTV. "It’s good to see, he’s a warrior, he gets in the way of things. It’s good to see he’s alright."
