Manchester United issue Anthony Martial injury update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Anthony Martial 'is looking good' ahead of a possible return to action for Manchester United before the end of the season.

Martial, 25, has been out of action since suffering a knee injury while away with France during the March international break and was at first expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Last week MEN photographers spotted Martial out in the Manchester district of Hale with his wife Melanie. The Frenchman was asked how his knee was recovering and replied that he was feeling good.

Now manager Solskjaer has issued a further update on the striker and hinted he could be back in time for the final few matches of the season.

“Anthony's looking good," Solskjaer told club media. "He has just about started outside jogging, which is the first step on the rehab of course.

“He's done most of the work in the gym and to see him out there getting some fresh air is good and hopefully we will see him before the season is out. He's supporting the team, he wants to be a part of the final and he's working hard to be available before that.”

Martial is one of three senior absentees for the Europa League semi-final second leg against AS Roma with Daniel James and Phil Jones also sidelined through injury.

Welsh forward James has not travelled to Rome for the decider and Solskjaer hinted he could be sidelined for a little while.

He added: “We didn't get any injuries at the weekend.

“We trained well after that. But Dan James is not available. He's still out for a little while.”
