Manchester United 'interested' in Timo Werner and more transfer rumours

Highly-sought after RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea, according to reports.

United have been largely inconsistent this season and, despite the red hot form of Marcus Rashford, scoring goals has at times proved to be a problem with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side struggling to break teams down.

As a result United have been linked with a deluge of striker ahead of the January transfer window with the likes of Erling Braut Haaland, who signed for Borussia Dortmund, and Everton's Dominc Calvert-Lewin being touted.

United let top goal scorer Romelu Lukaku leave in the summer without bringing in a replacement and Solskjaer is looking to reinforce his strike force over the next couple of transfer windows.

And Werner is another name who has been linked. At just 23-years-old he is considered among Europe's most elite strikers and his 17 goal haul in the Bundesliga so far this season shows why, with only Robert Lewandowski managing more with 18.

The German's goals have helped fire Leipzig to the top of the table by two points going into the winter break with a very real possibility of winning the title for the first time.

The Express  claims United are viewing Werner as an attacking option as Solskjaer looks to bolster his forward ranks.

Chelsea are also reportedly interested as well as German giants Bayern Munich.

However, there has been doubt expressed over whether Werner would make the move in January with Leipzig having a chance of claiming an historic title.

Meanwhile, it seems that United and Chelsea aren't only fighting over Werner, if reports are to be believed.

The Londoners are also interested in a deal for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to The Express .

It's claimed the Stamford Bridge club are willing to offer Olivier Giroud as part of a deal to sign Dembele, who is also on Manchester United’s transfer radar.

Latest reports suggest United have turned their attentions to Dembele after Haaland moved to Dortmund.
