Manchester United insider reveals Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fitness plan

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has revealed details of a conversation he had with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about the Norwegian's plans for next season.

Solskjaer implemented a high-pressing game upon his arrival at United last December but the players were unable to keep up the intense approach until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

After United's 4-0 defeat by Everton in April, Solskjaer bemoaned the players' lack of fitness and said he couldn't wait for pre-season so that he could work on the squad's conditioning.

Solskjaer believes the players will be capable of adopting his approach all season long if their fitness levels are right.

And Saha has suggested Solskjaer reiterated his plans for the upcoming campaign in a conversation the pair had after the recent Treble reunion match.

"The main thing we talked about was the foundation of the new side," Saha said. "Ole wants his players to run more than the opposition.

"The players will be fitter and prepared to run more and work harder. This is the foundation.

"So many things have changed and we (United) need to be coming back to a certain level, and fitness was one of the things (we spoke about)."

United have signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka so far in the transfer window but Saha is not entirely happy with the business the club has done.

"It does frustrate me," Saha said of United's transfer activity.

"You can see that United are not the team people are going to choose straight away because they are not in the Champions League and they are not having the best squad right now.

"These transitions make big players hesitate. It is going to be a big mission for United and the directors. They have a challenge on their hands."
