Manchester United injury update: Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire latest news and return dates

Manchester United's injury problems are set to be eased in the coming weeks.

The list of absentees remained significant for the FA Cup third-round victory over Wigan on Monday night, but Erik ten Hag is set to have his squad significantly strengthened for this weekend's crucial Premier League clash at home to Tottenham.

Christian Eriksen, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are all pushing to return to action, while longer-term absentees like Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez are not far away from their long-awaited comebacks.

Here's the latest Man United injury news and potential return dates...

Lisandro Martinez

Ten Hag has revealed that Lisandro Martinez is still a way off making his return to action.

A foot injury has kept the defender on the sidelines since September and while it was previously hoped that he could return early in January, his manager has confirmed that both Martinez and Casemiro are potentially "weeks" away.

"They are a long time already back on the grass and now they return back into team training but not fully, so partial," Ten Hag said ahead of his side's win over Wigan when asked about the two players.

"Now they have to make the next steps and that may take some days, I think even weeks."

Potential return date: January 27 vs Newport/Eastleigh

Casemiro

Casemiro has now been out for more than two months with a hamstring injury.

It has been a frustrating campaign for the Brazilian and, as with Martinez, it remains to be seen whether he can prove his fitness in time to feature in the FA Cup fourth round later this month

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw is set to provide United with a significant boost by returning against Tottenham this weekend.

The left-back has missed the last three games, but is now back in full training and is expected to be involved at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mason Mount

Having arrived at United in the summer, Mason Mount has made only four Premier League starts in his first season at Old Trafford.

The midfielder has now returned to training after a calf injury, one that has kept him out since November, but he is now closing in on a comeback. This weekend's match is likely to come too soon.

"Mason I think he needs some days or a week more," Ten Hag has confirmed.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire has not featured since limping off with what appeared to be a groin injury against Bayern Munich last month.

The centre-back was in good form before that blow and his return will be a timely one, with Ten Hag suggesting Maguire is "maybe" in contention to face Tottenham.

Antony

Antony was absent against Wigan with what has been reported to be a minor injury.

No official update has been given, but the winger is not expected to face a lengthy spell out.

Potential return date: January 14 vs Tottenham

Anthony Martial

Amid ongoing speculation over his future at Old Trafford, Anthony Martial has been on the sidelines for a month with illness.

The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer, and Ten Hag has been reluctant to give much of a response when quizzed on Martial's availability.

Potential return date: January 14 vs Tottenham

Christian Eriksen

Illness prevented Christian Eriksen from featuring in the FA Cup win over Wigan.

It is not believed to be a serious issue though, with the midfielder in contention to be involved against former club Tottenham.

Victor Lindelof

Centre-back Victor Lindelof underwent "successful surgery on a minor groin issue" just before Christmas.

United confirmed that Lindelof would be out for just over a month, meaning he could make a return at the start of February.

Potential return date: February 1 vs Wolves

Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia has not made single appearance so far this season, having undergone knee surgery in the summer.

United's decision to end Sergio Reguilon's loan deal would suggest they are confident in their left-back options, with Malacia in line to return in the next few weeks.
