Manchester United install new security measures at Old Trafford after anti-Glazer protests

Manchester United have responded to the protests against the Glazers by increasing the security around Old Trafford.

Thousands of supporters gathered before United' s clash against Liverpool at the start of the month to protest against the Glazers' ownership of the club, with anger reaching boiling point amid the club's involvement in the collapsed Super League proposal.

While the protest was mostly peaceful, some fans broke into Old Trafford to invade the pitch, while some caused criminal damage, creating a hostile environment around the stadium, and consequently, United's team bus never left the nearby Lowry Hotel.

Reacting to the demonstration, the club has now taken measures to bolster security around the stadium by installing new barriers, with more protests before the end of the season scheduled to go ahead as fans continue to make their voices heard.

The MEN revealed yesterday that United have taken security advice on arrangements for their games against Leicester City and Liverpool, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained he's keen to avoid too much disruption to his side's pre-match routine.

"Well we want to keep it as normal as possible of course, because you like to prepare for games in a certain manner," Solskjaer said.

"It’s impossible to prepare as we normally do with only one day in between the games. So the prep will be different but the off-field stuff hopefully we’ll keep it as normal as possible."
