Manchester United include Alex Telles and Harry Maguire in squad vs Newcastle

Alex Telles and Harry Maguire have travelled with the Manchester United squad to Newcastle.

Maguire, 27, sustained a knock before he was sent off in the 31st minute of England's 1-0 Nations League defeat to Denmark on Wednesday night but has recovered to make the trip to the north-east.

Telles, 27, came on in Brazil's World Cup qualifying win over Peru in Lima on Tuesday night and reported at United's Carrington training base on Thursday but has been included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.

Solskjaer backed United captain Maguire ahead of his first club game since the 6-1 trouncing by Tottenham on October 4. Maguire has endured a difficult period since he was arrested on holiday in Mykonos in late August and he has started every United Premier League game since he arrived in an £80million move last August.

"You're in the highlights all the time and when Harry is part of the England team that beats number one ranked Belgium it's just a normal day and you get the headlines when you get a sending off," Solskjaer said. "That's football for you. There are so many ups and downs, have to deal with it individually and as a group.

"Harry has got great resilience, I know he'll bounce back, I know he wants to play and work his way out of the last couple of games he's been criticised. He picked up a knock just before he came off. I'm just hopeful he'll be fit. We had a look at him yesterday and will give him a test today."

Left-back Telles completed a £13.6m move from Porto on deadline day and is set to become the eighth Brazilian to play for United after Kleberson, Anderson, Rodrigo Possebon, the Da Silva twins, Andreas Pereira and Fred.

United flew to Newcastle from the private terminal at Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon.
