Manchester United in Ismaila Sarr talks as Watford look to include huge £25m penalty clause

Watford want to include an incredible £25million penalty clause in their deal to sell Ismaila Sarr to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford club want to sign the winger on loan with an option to buy for £45m next summer, but the Hornets want protection if they don't activate the clause.

And they are trying to get United to agree to a penalty of £25m if they don't sign him on a permanent deal next summer.

Telefoot Chaine say that United aren’t hugely put off by the clause but want a much lower fee than that and remain in negotiations with the Championship club.

United are desperate to get a right winger into the club and Sarr has been heavily linked with various big moves all summer.

He was a target for Liverpool earlier in the window before the Premier League champions decided to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves instead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted Jadon Sancho first and then turned his attention to Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele when that one didn't go through.

But now it looks like Sarr is the main option to strengthen his attack and United don't need to have the deal completed by tonight's 11pm deadline.

A domestic window between the EFL and the EPL will remain open until October 16.
