There's a new name being linked with Manchester United to solve their defensive issues - David Carmo.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still looking to sign a new left-sided defender who can partner Harry Maguire, with Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe all used at the back this season. Lindelof is Maguire's most regular partner, but some question marks have been raised over his long-term future at United.
Now, ESPN report that Braga's Portuguese defender Carmo is one of the players United are showing an interest in.
It is suggested other Premier League clubs have also shown an interest in the 21-year-old while Fiorentina and Roma both enquired about the defender in the summer.
Carmo started this season as first choice for Braga, but is currently serving a suspension after being sent off against Guimaraes last month. He is capped up to under 20 level for Portugual and has 27 senior appearances to his name in total.
Meanwhile, Record say Sporting have moved to try and ward of supposed interest in their young defender Nuno Mendes by raising his release clause.
Mendes, 18, is not long into his current contract, and he has become a regular this season after making his debut earlier this year.
The left-back is said to be wanted by United, along with Liverpool, AC Milan and Arsenal, so the report says Sporting will offer him a new deal with a higher release clause.
That would see his release clause rise from £40m to £62m, which they say might price United out of a deal.
Finally, HLN say Southampton are preparing a €25m January offer for former United winger Adnan Januzaj in January. If that was to happen, United could be in line for a €7.5m share of that fee due to the sell-on clause included in the deal to sell the Belgian.
