Manchester United 'identify' new right back to provide Diogo Dalot with competition and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are planning to swoop for Netherlands defender Jeremie Frimpong as they aim to bolster their right-back options with Diogo Dalot currently first choice in that position - according to reports.

Dalot only has a few months to run on his contract at Old Trafford while the club do hold an option on him and are keen to tie the Portugal international down to a longer agreement. But will Frimpong arrive to provide competition?

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still available for transfer and has been seldom used by Erik ten Hag this season. On the other hand, Dalot has been among their better performing players.

Reports from Sky Sports in Germany claim Frimpong, 21, is wanted by United moving forward. However, the same article suggests they might have to wait until next summer to land him.

Frimpong has earned rave reviews for his performances with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and he was included in the Netherlands squad for the ongoing World Cup finals. He has yet to appear in Qatar, though, due to other names such as Denzel Dumfries getting the nod in his position.

He has scored five goals and provided three assists from right-back for Leverkusen this season.

Elsewhere, reports from Give Me Sport state United have been scouting highly-rated Napoli defender Kim Min-jae and will pull out all the stops to sign him next summer. Another man on World Cup duty, the South Korean only put pen to paper with the Italians last summer following a spell in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

Due to his displays there, though, the 26-year-old is being tipped to move on, once again, with United firmly in the race for his services. Min-jae would cost around £43million with a release clause in his Napoli contract.
