Manchester United 'identify' Ashley Young replacement and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are lining up a move for Paris-Saint Germain star Thomas Meunier as a possible replacement for Ashley Young - according to reports.

Young has completed a move to Inter Milan after United agreed a deal in the region of £1.3million, plus add-ons, to allow the veteran left-back to move in the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old had already agreed personal terms with the Italian side and landed in Italy for a medical earlier on Friday.

His departure leaves Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams to battle Diogo Dalot for a starting berth at left-back but reports in France suggest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add further depth.

Le Parisien claim the Reds have turned their attention to Meunier - who is out of contract with the French champions in the summer.

The 28-year-old can play on either side of the back four and has attracted plenty of interest due to his expiring contract.

Juventus, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich have all been credited with an interest in the Belgium international.

United seem well stocked at full-back but landing Meunier on a free in the summer wouldn't be a bad idea. He has experience at the highest level and would be a risk free addition.

Elsewhere, Juventus midfielder Emre Can is reportedly open to leaving Juventus this month and has been linked with a move to United.

The former Liverpool man has fallen out of favour under Maurizio Sarri and has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League.

La Gazzetta claim Can has ordered a meeting with Juventus to discuss his future as he wants more game time ahead of EURO 2020.

United are looking to sign a midfielder this month following injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba but the MEN understand Can have never been a priority target and a move for the German is unlikely given he does not fit the profile of players Solskjaer is looking to sign.
