Manchester United hold talks with Ralf Rangnick over interim manager role

Manchester United are in talks with Ralf Ragnick over the prospect of appointing him as the club’s interim manager.

Michael Carrick won his first game in charge against Villarreal on Tuesday but, with so much still to play for this season, it appears as if United are looking to bring in an experienced coach to see them through until the end of the campaign.

No final agreement has been reached yet but talks are ongoing with the former Leipzig coach who is head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing talks.

The managerial vacancy was opened up at United by the firing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday. Rangnick could only be in charge until the end of the season.

Rangnick, who has been credited with having a profound impact on the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann, has previously overseen managerial roles at RB Leipzig, Schalke and Hoffenheim before moving into a role behind the scenes in the Russian capital earlier this year.
