Manchester United hit with Covid outbreak as Brentford clash at risk

Manchester United's clash with Brentford during the week may be at risk after a number of positive covid tests at the Old Trafford club.

The Red Devils edged out Norwich City on Saturday with Ralf Rangnick fielding a full-strength squad for the trip to Carrow Road.

Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty sealed the win but it's now being reported that United were unable to train fully on Sunday.

The Athletic say a "small number" of players and staff tested positive for the virus which led to Sunday's session being limited to individual, non-contact training.

It's said that every player and member of staff who travelled to Norwich tested negative.

But their planned Premier League trip to Brentford on Tuesday may be at risk of cancellation.

Eight Tottenham players tested positive last week as the Omicron variant of covid sees cases surge across the UK.
