Liverpool may have been handed a transfer boost with Manchester United, reportedly, holding concerns over Chelsea's £55m valuation for Mason Mount.
Having shelved their initial plans to pursue Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham when the market reopens, due to the immense financial costs involved, Jurgen Klopp and the Reds recruitment team will instead spread their budget on several midfield recruits. As things stand, Alexis Mac Allister is among their primary targets.
Countless names continue to do the rounds as possible alternatives - including Mount. However, while it appeared as though United might be in the driving seat for the England international, after a report from The Athletic stated he would prefer to join the Old Trafford outfit if he does leave Chelsea this summer, Liverpool have seemingly been given cause for optimism.

With only 13 months left to run on his Stamford Bridge contract, Mount and his would-be fee has been a major talking point over any proposed move. And a new report from The Independent suggests the minimum £55m fee Chelsea are said to be demanding for their Academy graduate is a little on the high side for United.
However, it adds that it "is felt a deal will eventually be done despite the clubs currently being some way off agreement", and like The Athletic, suggests that Mount favours a move to the Red Devils over Liverpool and Arsenal, who are also interested.
The 24-year-old progressed through the Chelsea ranks and has played 195 matches for the club in all competitions. He spent time on loan at Vitesse and Derby County earlier in his career and has gone to win 36 caps for England since making his senior debut in 2019.
