Peter Schmeichel has been voted as the greatest foreign goalkeeper to have played in the Premier League.
BBC Sport hosted the best overseas player poll on Friday and the results have now been revealed.
The former Manchester United shot-stopper was pitted against David De Gea and Petr Cech in the goalkeeping category and came out trumps by a clear four per cent.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer hailed Schmeichel after throwing his name into the hat during the BBC’s best Premier League import debate.
Schmeichel starred for the Red Devils from 1991 to 1999, helping the club to lift five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup and the Championship League among other trophies.

His success at United is well-documented, but Shearer says it was the Danish keeper’s ability to utilise a ‘starfish technique’ when strikers descended on goal which set him apart.
“I played against him numerous times. He was hard, great at crosses and a winner. He bullied and organised his defenders and, having talked to Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister who played in front of him, they said he was pretty horrible in a good way,” Shearer told the BBC .
“They had huge respect for him and you knew you were going into battle when you came up against Peter. He certainly was not afraid.
“He brought the starfish technique where he made himself huge and you had to be accurate to get the ball past him. The memory I take from playing against him is how big he made himself against you.”
