Manchester United hero makes big claim about ex-Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez amid struggles

Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester United in January 2018 has just not worked out at all.

In the final few months of his contract at the Emirates, the Chilean ended up moving to Old Trafford with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going in the opposite direction.

Hitting three goals in 18 appearances following his move from Arsenal, the 30-year-old was expected to kick on come the start of the 2018/19 season but he only managed to net twice in 27 appearances.

Sanchez has now been linked with a return to Italy and a summer departure to either Juventus or Inter Milan wouldn't come as a huge shock following his struggles.

However, Andy Cole, who has stated the player's torrid time reminds him of Fernando Torres' spell at Chelsea, still has faith that the ex-Arsenal man will come good despite the fact his Manchester United career looks to be heading to an end.

"That’s the million dollar question because there’s noises that he might not be there, whatever," said the former Manchester United striker, as reported by The Independent.

"Sanchez is a bit like the Torres thing. You know, when Torres left Liverpool and went to Chelsea, all of a sudden he wasn’t the same individual and left everyone scratching their head.

"I think the situation with Sanchez now has got everyone scratching their head.

"For what he was at Arsenal and then coming to Manchester United, you turn and say, ‘well, where has it kind of gone wrong?’ Because you can’t become a bad player overnight. You cannot do it.

"For some reason, I keep saying to myself he’ll turn it around. He will turn it around.

"If it’s at Manchester United we’ll have to wait and see but you just can’t become a bad player overnight because he has too many qualities."
