Manchester United hero lays into under-performing and moaning players on MUTV

Former Manchester United midfielder Lou Macari has called for the club to "get rid" of any player not fighting for the cause and playing for the badge.

The 72-year-old has launched a passionate assessment of the current woes United are experiencing, which were extended with Monday's 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Old Trafford.

United, undone by Joao Moutinho's later winner, produced another uninspiring performance, meaning they have now taken just four points from their last three Premier League outings.

Reports of unrest within the dressing room have surfaced over the last few days and it is understood that United's players are 'sick to death' of the club's failing standards, again increasing pressure from outside Old Trafford.

For Macari, who played for the club between 1973 and 1984, United should look to offload anyone who isn't pulling their weight and approaching the responsibility of playing for a club of United's stature in the correct manner.

"Anyone kicking off in the dressing room, kick them out of the club," Macari said to MUTV, as quoted by the Mail. "Get rid of them and I'm talking about the players doing that by the way.

"70,000 United supporters can't be wrong every week. These players have to start showing something."

Playing for United nowadays means that those fortunate enough to be in the position lead an exclusive and special lifestyle, meaning anyone in the position ought to be beaming from ear to ear.

However, Macari, who made over 400 appearances for the club, has admitted that he is not spotting any sort of happiness within the squad.

He added: "You've got the money and the lifestyle, what more do you want?

"I'm getting annoyed. I should be watching 11 happy players enjoying the game but I'm not detecting that.

"I don't see 11 happy players and they are second to most balls. Where's the aggression gone?"
