Manchester United are still able to compete with the world's elite clubs in the transfer market despite being in danger of being usurped as England's richest club, insists Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The latest Deloitte Football Money League figures show United with a revenue of £627.1million for 2018-19, which leaves them behind Real Madrid and new revenue kings Barcelona.
However, Deloitte warned that Liverpool and Manchester City could soon overtake United after the latter's failure to qualify for the Champions League - and another year outside Europe's elite club competition would surely hit revenue further.
But Solskjaer offered a robust defence of the club's status, saying on Tuesday: "The most important thing for me is we get the results sorted and the performances on the pitch.
"But I know that we've got the resources, we've got the backing. If we need to go into the transfer market we are still up there so we're still in a good place."
Standard Sport understands that Bruno Fernandes is a January target for United, but Solskjaer remained tight-lipped regarding any potential deals this month.
"I've got no transfer updates," he said.
"If we get something we can tell you about we will, but we've got no news now."
