Manchester United handed timely boost as defender steps up fitness ahead of West Ham game

West Ham have a big week coming up with Champions League hopefuls Chelsea and Manchester United on the agenda.

The Hammers are themselves also hoping that a strong end to the season can see them finish in a European place, although that will all depend on whether or not Man City win the FA Cup final next month.

Wolves are in the driving seat to clinch seventh at present, with Watford, Leicester, Everton and the Hammers also in contention over the remaining few weeks of the season.

With a trip across the capital to Stamford Bridge on Monday evening, the Hammers will then travel to Manchester United on Saturday looking to inflict another defeat on the Red Devils.

West Ham came out on top at the London Stadium with a 3-1 win back in September but an awful lot has changed at Old Trafford since then.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now at the helm and he has been given some good news on the injury front ahead of next week's game.

The Manchester United boss currently has a bit of an issue at left-back with both Luke Shaw and Ashley Young suspended.

The former picked up his 10th booking of the season on Tuesday at Wolves to earn a two-game ban, with the latter sent off for two bookable offences in the same game.

However, it looks like Marcos Rojo could be the man to come in after playing 45 minutes on Friday night for the club's U23 side against West Brom.

The Argentine has only featured in one game under the new manager this season and that came late on last Saturday in their win over Watford.

Solskjaer was in attendance to watch the versatile player in action on Friday night and it looks likely that he will be in the starting XI unless he suffers another setback after an injury-hit campaign.
