Manchester United handed Scott McTominay update ahead of Europa League Final

Manchester United have been handed a timely fitness boost after midfielder Scott McTominay was named in the Scotland squad for the rescheduled European Championship this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was given a scare on Tuesday night when McTominay, 24, limped out of their 1-1 draw with Fulham after receiving a knock.

The injury worry comes just one week ahead of United's massive Europa League Final against Villarreal - with midfield teammate Fred also a concern ahead of the clash in Gdansk.

“We have had a couple of players who have got knocks today, with Scott [McTominay] and Fred. So I will see how they are," Solskjaer told reporters on Tuesday night.

“Unfortunately Scott had to come off and Fred doesn’t look great when he is walking now. But we have got eight days [to the final] and hopefully everyone who was available today will be available.“

However, United have been given some peace of mind ahead of the final after McTominay was named in the Scotland squad for Euro 2020, putting to bed any long-term concerns at least.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke included the United midfielder as part of the 26-man squad he has assembled for the tournament which begings next month.

They will face Czech Republic, England and Croatia in Group D, with the first and third games at Hampden in front of 12,000 spectators.
