Manchester United handed Moises Caicedo warning as transfer interest confirmed

Manchester United have been handed a warning amid their ongoing pursuit of teenage midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are interested in a deal for the 19-year-old Ecuador international but are yet to reach a breakthrough over a transfer agreement.

MEN Sport first reported in December that United are trying to finalise a deal for the young midfielder for a fee in the region of €6million, which could include a 20 per cent sell-on clause for Caicedo's current club.

The club are keen to sign Caicedo as part of a new recruitment strategy and the plan would be for the teenager to move to Manchester later this month due to new work permit regulations.

Earlier this week Independiente del Valle admitted they expect to lose Caicedo this year, but insist they have had no formal contact from United regarding a possible move.

Now there is another update from the Ecuadorian club with general manager Santiago Morales revealing the growing interest in their starlet.

“There is another club interested in England and also a team from the five top leagues in Europe,” Morales told  Machdeportes .

“We have two strong teams from Europe interested in him, without reaching any understanding yet. But we hope their negotiation will be prompt.”

A fresh report on Tuesday night also suggests that MLS side Atlanta United have made an offer to sign Caicedo in the January transfer window.
