Manchester United handed late team news boost ahead of Man City fixture

Manchester United have been handed a late boost ahead of their meeting with Man City after Victor Lindelof was spotted with the squad leaving the team hotel ahead of kick-off.

The Sweden international missed the midweek draw with Atalanta in the Champions League and was a doubt to return to action in the Premier League this weekend.

Lindelof, 27, was one of three United players not originally spotted arriving at The Lowry Hotel on Friday night ahead of Saturday's derby but has since been seen with the rest of the first-team squad.

The centre-back missed United's 2-2 Champions League draw with Atalanta on Tuesday due to a training ground injury he sustained on Monday morning but the Sweden captain was included in the national team squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Lindelof would 'come back in tomorrow' pending a late fitness test.

Raphael Varane will definitely miss the match through injury while attacking duo Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford are still doubts for the game.

Ahead of the match Solskjaer admitted to club media there were a couple of players who were at risk of missing the first derby encounter of the season.

“Yeah, we’ve got a couple of players who are doubtful unfortunately, but that’s part of the game," he said.

"We’ll just have to give them as much time as possible because they are working really hard and they wanted another 24 hours to see if they could be available.”
