Manchester United handed Kai Havertz transfer boost by Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has handed Manchester United a huge summer transfer boost by ruling his club out of the running for Kai Havertz.

German international Havertz is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window with United one side exploring the possibility of a deal.

MEN Sport reported last month Havertz is open to a move to the Premier League but views Champions League football as a 'huge desire' when it comes to selecting his next club.

Havertz finished his domestic season as a runner-up in the German cup final on Saturday night, netting a penalty as Leverkusen lost 4-2 against Bayern Munich, but is still expected to feature when the Europa League resumes next month.

Bayern Munich had been considered the favourites to sign Havertz at the end of the season but now Rummenigge has ruled his side out of a summer deal after they concluded a move for Leroy Sane earlier in the week.

“I say very clearly, financially a transfer for Havertz will not be possible this year," Rummenigge told Sport1 .

“It’s my wish for (Bayer chief) Rudi Voller that he stays one more year in Leverkusen.”
