Manchester United handed Harry Maguire transfer warning by Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has warned Manchester United they are under no pressure to sell any of their players this summer as the Reds continue to pursue Harry Maguire.

The Foxes rejected a £70million bid from United for Maguire at the start of the month but the England international is believed to be the Reds' priority target.

Leicester are holding out for a fee closer to £80m for the England international and Rodgers is relaxed about the situation as the new season approaches.

“The club is in a great state of health because there’s no pressure to sell any player," Rodgers said. "And if a player does leave Leicester City, the valuation will have to be met.

"We have a top level player, looked at by top level clubs. I respect that because I understand why they would, but there’s been no offer near to our valuation that that would even make us have a look.

“How he has handled it has been fantastic. Harry has never wavered."

Rodgers did, though, suggest that the club will not stand in Maguire's way if their valuation of the player is met and he states his intention to leave.

"If there’s a valuation met that pleases the ownership, then there’s a decision to be made for the player,” Rodgers added.

Asked by Sky Sports whether Leicester have received any fresh bids for Maguire, Rodgers said: "Not that I'm aware of, no."

The Foxes boss then refused to reveal Leicester's asking price for Maguire, adding: "I think it's something that's within the clubs that are interest.

"There's no more discussion on it. Everything that's been said with Harry, it's been very simple, we're very relaxed. The clubs that have spoken to Leicester haven't met any valuation that the club have put on him. At this moment in time he's very much a Leicester player and you can see where his concentration is."

Asked whether Maguire wants to stay at Leicester, Rodgers said: "That's not one for me to say. You can see how he's training, how he's working. Harry's been the ultimate professional, he's been a joy to work with. I've been in this situation with a number of players. His concentration is fully on Leicester."
