Manchester United handed double injury boost for Europa League quarter-final

Manchester United defenders Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof trained with the first-team squad on Saturday and look set to travel to Germany for the Europa League knockout stages.

United's players arrived at Carrington on Saturday morning for the last training session before jetting off to Cologne for their quarter-final clash with Copenhagen.

Dalot had missed the last 16 second leg against LASK with injury, while Lindelof was a doubt as well and played no part in the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

But sources have told MEN Sport that both players, along with another doubt in Phil Jones, were in full training kit and arrived at the same time as the rest of the squad. Luke Shaw and Axel Tuanzebe, who have not been named in United's 30-man squad for the rest of the Europa League squad, did not train as they continue their rehabilitation from injuries at home.

Shaw sustained an ankle injury in United's draw with Southampton in the Premier League last month, while Tuanzebe hasn't figured since the restart.

Copenhagen eliminated Istanbul Basaksehir in the last 16 to set up a meeting with United but Basaksehir's head coach has written off the Danish club's chances of causing a quarter-final upset.

“Based on both our and Copenhagen’s performance, neither they nor Basaksehir have an earthly chance against Manchester United," Okan Buruk said.

“Of course, it is football and no one can predict anything, but Manchester United are far ahead of both Basaksehir and Copenhagen. But I wish them, Copenhagen, good luck and I hope they beat United and progress.”
