Manchester United 'handed a huge advantage' in race for Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United have been 'handed a huge advantage' in their chase for Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

After finally completing the signing of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Saturday United will now turn their attentions to signing a midfielder as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to continue his summer rebuild.

Newcastle's Sean Longstaff is on the short list and the club are also interested in Sporting's Fernandes.

The 24-year-old had an incredible season by scoring 32 goals and captaining his side to Portuguese cup glory before helping Portugal become the inaugural Nations League champions.

Transfer speculation linking Fernandes with a move to Old Trafford have intensified in the last week and the Mirror, via ESPN, report that Premier League rivals Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City have all 'ruled out a move' for the midfielder.

This has given United 'a huge advantage in their pursuit' and they 'are now expected to step up their interest.'

Elsewhere, United 'have everything agreed' with Seville striker Wissam Ben Yedder, according to reports.

It has previously been reported that United Ben Yedder as a potential replacement to Romelu Lukaku, should the Belgian striker complete his much touted move to Serie A giants Inter.

The Frenchman enjoyed a brilliant campaign in Spain as he scored 30 goals in all competitions and added a further 11 assists.

It's reported by La Colina de Nervion that Ben Yedder 'already has everything agreed' with United over a move and that his new club will 'almosty with total security' be in England.

However, it's claimed that Sevilla's sporting director Monchi has 'not yet said the last word' on the situation.

While Ben Yedder is undeniably a brilliant striker, at 28-years of age he may go against United's new strategy of signing young players.
