Manchester United great Roy Keane sends Harry Kane message to Ed Woodward

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has sent a Harry Kane transfer message to the club's board after the draw against Liverpool.

The Red Devils showed plenty of promise at Old Trafford as they became the first team this season to take points off the Premier League leaders.

Marcus Rashford, who played from a wide position, opened the scoring following an assist from Daniel James. Sadio Mane had a goal disallowed prior to the break for a handball before Adam Lallana equalised for Liverpool late on.

Rashford's goal for United led to plenty of discussion among the pundits on Sky Sports about the England international's potential and what position he should be playing.

Keane believes that the 21-year-old should be deployed as more of a wide player and not as a number nine.

"He looked back to his best. I think the position suits him a little more. What he has to do know is kick on," Keane told Sky Sports.

"The key for him is getting that goal. It’s about putting the ball in the back of the net."

The attention then turned to what United should do about their striking options if Rashford is not the answer as an out-and-out number nine moving forward.

Graeme Souness, Gary Neville and Jose Mourinho all agreed that Rashford needs help up top but it was Keane who was the most firm in his suggestion about what United should do in the January transfer window.

"Go and get Kane from Spurs," Keane explained.

Neville chimed in: "You'll be popular with Spurs' fans."

Keane responded: "Just go and get him. What are you all staring at? He scores 20 goals in a season with his eyes shut. Go and get him."
