Manchester United great Roy Keane hammers David de Gea for error vs Everton

Roy Keane has slammed Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea following his error in the first-half of the club's clash at Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the hosts a 1-0 lead three minutes in after De Gea took too long to clear the ball before his attempt hit the Everton striker and found the back of the net.

It was an horrendous error from the Spanish keeper, who has endured a mixed 2019/20 campaign for the Reds.

Former United captain Keane is in the studio on punditry duties for Sky Sports and he did not hold back at the break with some particularly strong half-time analysis.

"As a manager or a player, you'd kill him," Keane told Sky Sports. "It's crazy goalkeeping.

"He is being too clever. He takes too long. What is he waiting for? He has to make a decision and do it quickly.

"You have got an experienced goalkeeper and what is he waiting for? There is a bit of arrogance there.

"I would have lynched him at half time. I would have had no time for that carry-on. Keepers can make mistakes but there are no excuses for that.

"Sometimes a player doesn't have anywhere to go and you just accept it. As a player you would be having a go at him. Hopefully he will keep a clean sheet in the second half."
