Manchester United great Patrice Evra trolls Man City over Champions League record

Manchester United fans lauded Patrice Evra after he trolled Manchester City while wishing Sir Bobby Charlton a happy birthday.

United legend Charlton turned 83 on October 11 and Evra paid tribute to the World Cup winner in an Instagram post.

Evra wrote: "Happy Birthday @SirBobbyCharlton. I know it's Sunday guys, sorry. Actually, not sorry!" along with a picture of Charlton examining the European Cup he won with United in 1968.

The former United left-back couldn't resist the opportunity to fire shots at City in the process, adding another caption to the image: "Nope.... Man City's name is still not there."

Unsurprisingly, United fans loved Evra's cheeky dig at their fierce rivals and heaped praise on the Frenchman.

One fan wrote: "Patrice Evra is bigger than Manchester City," while another said: "What a legend."

His joke went down well among some City supporters too, one Blues fan writing: "Even as a City fan, this was funny."

United begin their Champions League campaign on October 20 against Paris Saint-Germain while City face Porto on October 21 at the Etihad.
