Manchester United great Nemanja Vidic told Liverpool FC's Virgil van Dijk is better than him

France World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf has outlined why Virgil van Dijk is 'more complete' than Nemanja Vidic.

The Liverpool defender has been instrumental in his side’s rise to the pinnacle of club football.

After helping his side claim the Champions League last season, the Dutchman has been a key figure in Liverpool’s impressive Premier League campaign, with Jurgen Klopp’s side currently 25 points clear and two wins away from being crowded champions.

As a result of his impressive form over the last couple of seasons, fans have been quick to compare Van Dijk to the former Manchester United man.

During his nine years at Old Trafford, Vidic won five Premier League titles, three League Cups and one Champions League.

But despite his trophy-laden spell in England, Leboeuf believes Van Dijk has the edge as he is a better leader and also has a better range of passing.

"I would go for Van Dijk," he said on ESPN FC. "I think he's more complete.

"I loved Vidic, because I think he was a dog, and a fantastic defender. But Van Dijk can lead the team and has range.

"I don't think Vidic was capable of doing that. Hats off to Vidic, though."
