Manchester United great Gary Neville slams 'embarrassing' Paul Pogba after handball vs West Ham

Gary Neville slammed Paul Pogba for his handball against West Ham United, labelling it 'embarrassing'.

The Manchester United midfielder blocked a Declan Rice free-kick that was heading for his face with his arms just before half-time.

That allowed Michail Antonio to put David Moyes' side 1-0 up at the break after a laboured first-half performance from United.

Pogba initially appeared to suggest the ball had hit him in the face but replays showed he clearly lifted his arms to block the ball, with VAR subsequently awarding a penalty kick.

The Frenchman's actions left Neville furious, with the ex-United captain labelling it as 'embarrassing'.

“He’s in trouble. He’s in big trouble, Paul Pogba. He’s in big, big trouble," Neville said during co-commentary.

"He’s given a penalty away and he’s pretending it’s hit his head. It’s rubbish from him. Rubbish. To think, I felt a little bit sorry for him, I thought he took a whack on the head.

"Embarrassing. I don’t know why VAR are looking at it for this long, to be honest - it’s a penalty. He shakes his head.

"Is he trying to make out he’s got a bloody nose? No-brainer, I don’t know what he’s looking at.”
