Manchester United great Gary Neville shares England prediction he got right

Manchester United great Gary Neville has issued a timely reminder about the England prediction he got right three weeks ago.

Gareth Southgate's side stormed into the semi-finals with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Ukraine in Rome, setting-up a semi-final date against Denmark on Wednesday.

It marks back-to-back semi-final appearances for England at major tournaments — and their first semi-final in an European Championship in 25 years.

Before and during the tournament, Southgate has faced some questions over his selections, particularly early in the tournament, as well as with aspects of his tactical approach.

Neville has never been in doubt regarding Southgate though and made that clear a number of weeks ago in comments made after the 1-0 victory against Croatia, England's opening match of the tournament.

Will Gareth Southgate lead England to Euro 2020 glory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

"I thought he managed the game unbelievably well today," Neville said then on ITV.

"You talk about the best player, it might have been Kalvin Phillips or Raheem Sterling, but our biggest asset is our manager because the clamour in past years will have been to go for Grealish, he's not even brought him off the bench and he's made substitutions as well.

"He's willing to make the unpopular decisions, the ones that ultimately people think at times that he shouldn't make, but he knows that group better than anyone and he knows how to get a performance and a result better than anyone.

"He's had seven or eight tournaments overall with the U21's as a coach and as a player, 89 games as a manager with England, vastly experienced, I feel really comfortable with him as an English fan as the English manager and what he did today was really good."

After clips of Neville's comments started to circulate once again following the win against Ukraine, Neville reshared the clip and stated he 'got battered' on Twitter with the responses.

England's semi-final against Denmark on Wednesday kicks-off at 8pm at Wembley, with the winner facing either Spain or Italy in the final.
