Manchester United great Gary Neville's surprising response when asked if he prefers Liverpool FC or Man City

Manchester United legend Gary Neville surprisingly couldn't decide when asked to choose between local rivals Man City and arch enemies Liverpool.

The Salford City co-owner was talking to the EFL in the aftermath of his side finding out their fixture list for their first ever season in the Football League.

The Ammies' first foray in to League Two will see them host Stevenage at Moor Lane in their opening fixture before a trip to Crawley Town and a crunch match with Leeds United in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

"Man City or Liverpool? Get rid of them!" the former United captain told the EFL while throwing his question sheet into the air.

"Not answering that one! None of them! I'm sick of them!"

Neville's response comes as something of a surprise after he repeatedly maintained in the Premier League title run-in last season that he wanted City to win the title ahead of Liverpool.

As well as owning Salford and dabbling in football management and coaching, Neville has been a well renowned pundit since his retirement and he also admitted he prefers his job analysing football to actually playing the sport.

"Being a player? Or being a pundit?" he said.

"Defintiely being a pundit, it's easier you just talk about people, it's fine. Being a player is hard."
