Manchester United great Gary Neville makes revelation about managerial ambitions

Gary Neville has said he has no desire to return to football management following his ill-fated stint as Valencia boss between December 2015 and March 2016.

Neville was tipped for managerial success after proving himself as a capable Sky Sports analyst for four-and-half years before taking the reins at the Mestalla.

However, he lasted less than four months as boss of the La Liga club as he was sacked at the end of March 2016 after just 28 games in charge.

Neville returned to his job with Sky at the beginning of the following season and he has now admitted he doesn't see himself ever returning to the dug-out.

"There is not one single part of me that wakes up and thinks 'I want to be on the training field'," Neville told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

"I had my foray into management in Valencia and it was probably one of the best learning curves I have ever had. It was a clip around the ear, sometimes you need one in life.

"I'm more interested in the board room or in the business side of things. The football side I love. I love watching matches but I just don't want to be on the training pitch, I feel like I've done that part of my life and want to move on."

Neville owns a 10 per cent share in League Two club Salford City and also co-founded University Academy 92 in 2017 alongside fellow members of Manchester United's famed Class of '92.
