Manchester United great Gary Neville admits to Steven Gerrard he "grassed" on Liverpool legend to FA

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed that he used a celebration by Steven Gerrard to escape an FA charge during his career.

Neville famously ran towards the Liverpool fans to celebrate Rio Ferdinand's winner at Old Trafford in 2006, sparking anger among the visitors.

The United defender repeatedly kissed the club badge in front of the visiting Liverpool fans, something which was equally praised and condemned by United and Liverpool supporters respectively.

Gerrard provided a similar celebration during the 2001/02 season against Everton and Neville has now revealed he used that incident as his defence after being hit with an FA charge.

Neville made the admission on his Soccerbox show recently on which Gerrard was a guest.

Gerrard's aforementioned goal and celebration was being shown when Neville made his admission.

"Do you know this celebration? I used this celebration in my evidence," Neville explained.

"You know when I went up to the Liverpool fans after the game and I got fined.

"I used your celebration, I sort of grassed on you. I said 'Look he did this and you didn't fine him'. Neville added: "It's some goal though isn't it."
