Manchester United great Gary Neville admits it's 'painful' to watch Premier League rivals

Manchester United great Gary Neville has admitted it’s ‘painful’ for him to watch Liverpool, speaking after Jurgen Klopp’s side sealed their third successive win of the season yesterday by beating Arsenal 3-1.

The former Reds skipper, who won multiple trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford had to watch as a pundit as Liverpool went top of the Premier League after a third straight win.

Neville lauded the Anfield side for their transfer business in signing Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah and turning them into the league's dominant strike force.

“Liverpool have signed three £30million strikers and turned them into £150m strikers, each and every one of them," he told Sky Sports

“They weren’t that good, now they’re outstanding.

“This is a really good team, and painful for me to watch personally.”

His comments come as United slipped to their first defeat of the season, against Crystal Palace. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are already five points behind their bitter rivals after three games of the season.

United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on October 19th this season, with the reverse fixture at Anfield on January 18th in the new year.
