Manchester United great David Beckham trolled with Man City shirt by wife Victoria

"They are never going to be Manchester United."

David Beckham is as red as they come and in 2011 he made it clear that he hoped Sheikh Mansour's project at Manchester City flopped.

So it was perhaps a surprise to see a picture of United's former winger holding up a City shirt on wife Victoria's Instagram story on Friday morning.

The shirt features the No.7 underneath the name 'Dave', which he notoriously hates being called. The Late Late Show host James Corden was also tagged in the picture suggesting the real reason will soon become clear.

The picture has since been deleted.

Meanwhile, another former United player is being tipped to join Beckham's newly former American team Inter Miami FC.

Antonio Valencia's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the month after nine years at the club and he is now odds on to move to the States.

The 33-year-old is priced at 2/1 by  Betoclock  to sign for Inter Miami, while his odds on playing for any team in the MLS next season are 1/3.
