Manchester United great Bryan Robson sends message over Mason Greenwood's future after Leeds goal

Manchester United great Bryan Robson believes Mason Greenwood has a huge future ahead of him at the club after watching the teenager score his first Reds goal.

Greenwood was one of several youngsters to impress in United's 4-0 pre-season friendly rout against Leeds at the Optus Stadium in Perth, latching onto Aaron Wan-Bissaka's cross with a precise finish to make it 1-0 in the first seven minutes.

The 17-year-old's performance not only drew praise from fans but had manager him for a future first-team role — possibly as soon as the Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Robson revealed he's been keeping tabs on Greenwood's potential for a number of years and followed Solskjaer in tipping the young forward for big things.

"I have been impressed with him ever since I saw him in the youth team," Robson told MUTV.

"He's got great potential, great balance, he can finish with both feet. Hopefully he keeps his feet on the ground and he's got a great future ahead of him."

Fellow United striker — and also a goal-scorer against Leeds — also gave Greenwood some advice after the pair proved a lethal combination for Solskjaer's side up front.

Rashford said: "I said to him 'once you get the first goal, the rest will come naturally'.

"That goal is nothing but instinct. You can tell he's a natural finisher, that's what he's best at.

"So for him, he doesn't have to change anything, he'll come into the team, do his stuff and he'll score goals and that's what he does."
