Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop signs new contract

Nathan Bishop has spoken about his aims for the future with Manchester United after penning a new deal with the club that runs until 2023.

The 21-year-old was signed from Southend United last year and is due to leave on loan in the January transfer window to further his development.

A new deal shows the faith that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has in the young stopper though and he's spoken about his delight on penning a new deal with United, as well as his hope for an upcoming loan spell.

"It’s an amazing club and I’m delighted to be here, and to extend my stay even longer is just incredible," he told the club's official website.

"The feeling I had the first day I walked through the door hasn’t changed. Driving down the lane at the training ground and coming in the door – it’s the same feeling every day, I’m just delighted to be here.

"It’s the biggest club in the world and it’s unbelievable to be around the players here. It’s a year since I joined and it literally feels the same.

"You learn your trade in playing games, that’s the most exciting thing, playing games and preparing for them. I’m very excited to step out and hopefully be able to play for a team and put all the year’s work into that.

"When I made my debut [for Southend] I was very excited and I was young and eager to do everything and be really on it. But I think that enthusiasm can sometimes be draining. I only played 45 minutes but I remember those 45 minutes were the quickest and most draining of my life.

"Now I’m ready to hopefully step into an environment and hopefully play 90 minutes and be able to even lead people and help people, and trust in them knowing they have trust in me; that’s what I’m really excited for.”
