Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop seals loan exit

Manchester United youth team goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has signed for League Two side Mansfield on loan for the 2021/22 season.

Bishop joined United from Southend United in January 2020 after featuring 39 times for their first-team and was part of the first-team set up in training working alongside the likes of David De Gea, Dean Henderson, Lee Grant and Sergio Romero.

But in order to gain some first-team experience next season, he has been allowed to leave the club on a season-long loan deal and will join Mansfield for the entirety of the campaign.

Bishop will remain with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side throughout their pre-season campaign, with several first-team stars likely to miss a chunk of the pre-season due to their participation in this summer's European Championships with their national teams.

The 21-year-old will then join the Stags at an agreed time before the official season curtain-raiser, and he will play under Nigel Clough as he looks to earn a first-team spot.

Bishop made two appearances for the United Under-23 side last season but more regular minutes will only aid the young goalkeeper, who is a regular in the England Under-20's squad at international level.

He is very highly rated amongst staff and coaches at the club and it's believed that he could have a future with the first-team in the future. United 's official statement announcing the move wished him the best of luck and said they would be keeping a close eye on his performances at the One Call Stadium.
