Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira has agreed a season-long loan to Huddersfield Town.
Pereira is way down the pecking order at Old Trafford and, after loans in the past two seasons with Vitoria Setubal, Belgian side Kortrijk and Hearts, he joins up with the Championship side.
MEN Sport understands there is no option for the Terriers to make the move permanent, but Pereira may seal a transfer if he impresses at the John Smith's Stadium. He is likely to be Huddersfield's second choice goalkeeper for the season, though could push for a start when handed opportunities in cup matches.
The 24-year-old has only played for United twice in competitive games, once in a 10-minute appearance replacing Sergio Romero in a 2017 League Cup tie against Wigan and from the start in the Premier League encounter versus Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign.
His contract expires in June 2021, meaning the Portuguese may well have played his final game for United.
United have welcomed Dean Henderson back to their goalkeeping department this summer, after two successful seasons on loan at Sheffield United. The England keeper has penned a new five-year contract at Old Trafford and is expected to push No.1 David de Gea for his spot in the coming campaign. Romero has been linked with an exit, as he finds himself as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's third choice between the posts.
Untied also have Lee Grant, Nathan Bishop and Matej Kovar as keepers on their books, though the latter is likely to seal a loan exit in the coming days too.
