Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson reacts after 'dream' England call-up

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been drafted into the England squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers with Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

England play the Czechs on 11 October and Bulgaria on 14 October as Gareth Southgate's side look to move closer to booking their place in next summer's tournament.

Henderson , who is out on loan from United, is now in line to make his Three Lions debut after an impressive season at Sheffield United. He has been called-up to replace Tom Heaton who has pulled out with injury.

The 22-year-old has taken to social media to reveal his delight at the news posting: "This is what dreams are made of... it’s a dream come true to receive my first England senior call up!!"

Despite shining between the sticks at Bramall Lane in the Championship last season and in the Premier League this, Henderson did make a costly error in their recent defeat to Liverpool.

The young keeper allowed Gini Wijnaldum’s volley to creep underneath him, leading to outspoken criticism from his Blades manager Chris Wilder.

Speaking last week about the United's loanee chances of an England call-up, Wilder was far more complementary, explaining: "He knows it is been a tough week and no one is more disappointed than him, but that’s the lonely world of a goalkeeper.

"If he gets in then great; Gareth looks at the bigger picture and knows a young man will make mistakes.

“It is how you recover from them that counts. Dean has made a couple in his time but has recovered wonderfully well.

"I imagine Gareth will look at the bigger picture and if Dean doesn’t get in, it’s not the end of his career or of him as a footballer."
