Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea sent warning by Spain manager

David de Gea has been sent a fresh reminder that his place in the Spanish national squad is not assured following the recent form of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Manchester United goalkeeper is no longer viewed as the outright No.1 for his country and national team manager Robert Moreno says it is all to play for heading into the next set of international fixtures.

Spain face both Romania and the Faroe Islands this week as part of their Euro 2020 qualification double header, with the two goalkeepers battling to stake their place in the starting line up.

Kepa has not kept a clean sheet in his five appearances for Chelsea this season, while De Gea has looked vulnerable during United's own turbulent start to the new Premier League season.

With no clear candidate to occupy the No.1 shirt for the Spanish national side Moreno has set his goalkeepers' a challenge ahead of the international matches.

"If the goalkeepers are at the level that they have shown up to now, it's possible to alternate them," Moreno told reporters.

"I don't believe that in a national team it's crucial that the same goalkeeper plays all the games.

"I'm expectant but I don't see it as a debut having felt that way against the Faroe Islands and Sweden. I'm looking forward to the game and to do well."
