Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea celebrates birth of first child

David de Gea has taken to social media to celebrate the birth of his first child, Yanay.

De Gea and girlfriend Edurne Garcia both posted a picture on their Instagram accounts on Friday morning of the baby's hand along with a caption which read: "Yanay 4•3•21" along with a loveheart emoji.

The Spanish goalkeeper, 30, missed Manchester United's goalless draw away at Crystal Palace in midweek ahead of the birth of his child on Thursday.

Dean Henderson started in De Gea's place at Selhurst Park as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were held to their third success goalless draw across all competitions.

The MEN understands Henderson was told before the draw with Crystal Palace to prepare for the possibility of starting in United's next six games.

Solskjaer refused to elaborate on De Gea's absence following United's third consecutive goalless draw, but it is understood De Gea could miss the rest of United's matches this month.

Henderson is set to line up in Sunday's Manchester derby at City, the Europa League round-of-16 first leg visit of AC Milan next Thursday, as well as the Premier League visit of West Ham on Match 14.

If Henderson starts at City it will be the first time he has started in successive league matches for United. The England international has started 13 times so far this season.
