Manchester United given Kalidou Koulibaly transfer update from Napoli

Carlo Ancelotti insists Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly will be staying at Napoli next seaon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen his back line during the summer transfer window and the 27-year-old is one of a number of defenders on Solskjaer's transfer wish-list.

Reports had claimed United had been put off by Napoli's huge asking price which is believed to be in excess of £90million.

However, Ancelotti ended all speculation after the final league game of the season when he was asked if the Senegal international would still be at the club next season.

"Yes," he told Radio Rai. "Koulibaly will remain in Naples in the next season."

United have also been linked with a move for Ajax teenager defender Matthijs de Ligt, however, despite reports in Spain claiming United are ready to beat Barcelona to the centre back MEN Sport understands United chiefs do not expect to sign the 19-year-old.

The centre back remained coy when asked about his future while away on international duty with the Netherlands.

"Where do I see myself? Well, obviously, the Premier League is a big competition, Spain also," De Ligt told ESPN. "But you have other competitions, it's not just about those two.

"I still don't know anything about where my future is, so I see how it goes. First we have to play two games and then after that I will see what happens next."
