Manchester United give updates on Axel Tuanzebe and Dean Henderson futures

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated Axel Tuanzebe could spend next season in the Manchester United first-team squad but Dean Henderson's situation is still unclear.

Tuanzebe, 21, is on loan at Aston Villa and poised to start in the Championship Play-off final should they overcome West Brom in their second leg. Villa won the first leg 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday and Tuanzebe earned rave reviews for his performance.

Henderson, 22, received the golden glove award for most clean sheets in the Championship as Sheffield United secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2006. Henderson is yet to play for the United first-team but is expected to line up for England Under-21s at the European Championship in Italy and San Marino next month.

United are prepared to negotiate an improved contract with Henderson as part of a possible second season loan with Sheffield United and Henderson is believed to be intent on playing Premier League football next season.

"Hopefully now Axel is going to get to the Play-off final," Solskjaer told MUTV. "He's played well, had a couple of injuries, he's a boy that I can't wait to see in pre-season for us next year.

"Let's see with Dean. He's won promotion with Sheffield United and been fantastic. For him to play a year in the Premier League might be the best thing."

Mason Greenwood made his full United debut in the 2-0 defeat to Cardiff and Solskjaer has also handed debuts to Tahith Chong and James Garner, while Angel Gomes cameoed against Cardiff. The quartet could be integrated into the first-team squad next term, having travelled on last year's pre-season tour of the United States.

"I think they (the youngsters) know deep down it's ingrained in our history and tradition that you will get a chance and they know they will get the backing from supporters," added Solskjaer.

"I have to say it'll be nice for them to have a full season somewhere and play but then again maybe the best place is here, when you train with the best players in the world and in this environment.

"We've got a history of making them the best. We've got loads of good examples of players being out for a year on loan and coming back as men so let's see what we decide on these boys but I can see most of them staying here and getting chances."
