Manchester United give update on Marcus Rashford injury after Liverpool win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Marcus Rashford will have a scan on a knee injury after coming off in the 3-2 win over Liverpool.

Manchester United produced one of their performances of the season to beat Jurgen Klopp's side in the fourth-round FA Cup clash at Old Trafford. Rashford played a key role, assisting Mason Greenwood for United's first goal and then scoring their second.

He limped down the tunnel in the closing stages as Anthony Martial replaced him and Solskjaer was asked about Rashford's injury by BBC Sport after the victory.

"Let's hope so," he said, quizzed on whether Rashford was okay. "His knee was bothering him. So a scan tomorrow and we'll see where we are."

On Rashford's performance, Solskjaer said: "Marcus has played a little bit up front, down the right and down the left. We felt if we could switch the ball early today to either side, we could attack them, because Liverpool defend on the front foot and you've got to be quick on the ball. I thought we did that well."

Solskjaer lauded his side's overall performance and had special praise for Bruno Fernandes — whose free-kick clinched the win late on for United.

He added: "We really played some good stuff in periods, good goals we scored, we know we have to defend well against them of course.

"And I thought we managed to react well. Towards the end there's always some moments there but I thought we kept them away."

On Fernandes and his winner, Solskjaer said: "Great goal, a good free-kick. The thing is when you leave him out like I did today, I think he stayed for 45 minutes after training yesterday shooting free-kicks. So I was quite confident he was going to hit the target! He got some time to practice."
